Last Thoughts about Tampa Bay Buccaneers Mandatory Mini Camp Today

Three days of Mandatory Mini Camp are here, and EVERYONE is required to be here. Camp consists of all players under contract and will run today (Monday) through Wednesday. Usually the first two days are Two-a-days, with the last day being a special event. Last year the team went paint-balling. Mini Camp is closed to the public, so no one will be able to see the Bucs until they open camp at the end of next month. This is a chance for the Bucs to get some things down they need to get all on one page about. 1)Defensive Line- McCoy meet Price, Price meed Miller. The three defensive tackles and rest of line hopefuls will get their last look at schemes and instructions before July, and will be expected to come back during the real thing in a matter of weeks knowing where to line up for what. 2) Wide Receivers- This is a whole new day in Tampa Bay for the Wide Receiving corps. Will Clayton survive, will Stovall be the vet that leads this group or will Stroughter? Know that if Benn and Williams wind up in the top three, they truely are something special and have earned their right to go into camp as the players to beat out. 3) Who will protect Freeman?- Donald Penn has said he will not be here, and he cannot be fined because he is NOT under contract. Penn has shown he can show up for preseason and still probably start, as long as he is not bluffing about his training regiment in California that has supposedly removed 40 pounds of fat from the Left Tackle. Demar Dotson is going to get looked at heavily as the Left Tackle (6’8″ 315 pounds). When you look at Dotson’s resume, dont worry about the less than impressive list there; Penn’s was equally as unimpressive when he was picked up off the Minnesota Vikings practice squad by then Pro Personnel scout Mark Dominik. 4) Kick in the Grass- No the Rowdies arnt coming to One Buc to Practice, but new punter rookie Bowden reportedly has been impressive. He will need to continue to do so, and Connor Barth will need to start off where he left off last season, kicking solid FGs, Extra Points, and deep kickoffs, lest he be compared to one Mike Nugent last year. As always, I recommend you tune in to for the latest on Bucs news from camp!
