iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max: Historic leap in cameras and goodbye (half) to the notch

And the time has come. Apple just declared both iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. Alongside them are the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, two models that have a lot of changes from the previous generation. Say goodbye to notch and the promise of having the most powerful and efficient processor on the market.

These are all the features and specs of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro Max, two models that break records in terms of both features and price, and these two phones are the most expensive phones Apple has ever sold.

Goodbye Notch

Rumors dropped it, and it was confirmed. The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max are the first iPhones meanwhile the iPhone X says goodbye to the notch. They replaced it with a less intrusive system, including Face ID. This is one of the main points in this iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, as it makes sense on a functional level.

This new system interacts with the system, unlike the traditional notch. Apple calls it Dynamic Island, acting as a kind of notification LED that changes duration depending on the content that reaches us. Not only will it work with native apps, but it’s also open to third-party apps, so any app can interact with the new island.

The rest of the design is similar to that seen in the last generation, stainless steel, matte glass on the back, and a large camera module. There is a slight difference in this aspect from what was seen in the previous generation model.

Always on Display is coming to iPhone

Repeat screens with 6.1 and 6.7 inches, full HD+, with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Maximum brightness goes up to 2,000 nits, a very high number. For the first time in iPhone history, Always On Display is here. Unlike Android, this is not a black screen. This will be the dimming of the content displayed on the lock screen. We can configure the widgets we want

Of course, this new iPhone has Apple’s new A16 Bionic processor, 4 nanometers. It promises to be 20% more efficient than the A15 bionic, as well as feeling more powerful. This SoC consists of a 6-core CPU, a new ISP, and a GPU with 50% more bandwidth.

The best camera on iPhone

The debut of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, for the first time, is a 48-megapixel camera sensor with Pixel Binning. It’s 65% bigger than last year, with OIS built into the sensor.

Betting on this 4 pixels in 1 combination (for shooting at 12 megapixels), is something that’s already been seen on Android, even though Apple promised to trust its ISP so it makes more sense. They promise double the brightness on all sensors (in low light conditions).

Apple seems to trust the sharpness of its iPhones, to the point that the new iPhone 14 Pro is capable of 2X both digital and real photos, without us having to zoom in manually. If we want to go further, the telephoto lens is still 3X.

ProRAW remains an exclusive feature for this iPhone. As expected, we were able to shoot in 48-megapixel mode. The cinematic mode can finally record in 4K.
